LISA MOON

I am a newer resident of Ocean Hills.  Peter and I first bought a home here in 2018, renting it out for several years while we still ran our business in Texas.  Then two years ago, a neighboring unit came on the market.  By then we loved Ocean Hills so much that we bought the second home and remodeled it for ourselves, keeping the original home as an ongoing rental.  We own two homes on Galicia Way, one as an investment, and one as our own slice of paradise to live in.

During the thirty years I lived in San Antonio, I started and ran two businesses, and owned and managed eight rental properties.  When Peter and I married in 2010, I grew his sole-proprietor wallpapering business into a large painting and wallpapering company with two branches (San Antonio and Austin).  I was CEO of that company until we sold the bulk of it earlier this year.  We specialized in high-end homes and worked closely with interior designers, who are, by necessity, very exacting clients.  I set up the systems to ensure we could paint our clients’ homes with a minimum of stress and disruption, managing 45 employees.  I kept the plates spinning while keeping an eye on the bottom line and ensuring everyone in the ship was steering in the right direction.  

Although I’ve lived in San Antonio from 1994 – 2024, I’m actually a native San Diegan, growing up in Solana Beach (go Torrey Pines Falcons!) and then graduating from U.C. Santa Barbara.  I raised three boys, all Stanford grads for their undergrad degrees (plus graduate degrees from Stanford, UCSB, and USC).

I have the unique perspective of having lived in a very different part of the country for a very long time, which provides a deeper insight than travel alone can do.  I have seen what works and what doesn’t, and can see past much of the rhetoric we hear about California vs. Texas because I’ve lived in both.  (Spoiler alert: California is better.)

I’ve also seen how anti-productive it is when people on opposite sides would rather win than compromise.  There is a difference between merely hearing an opponent’s words while mentally formulating our own rebuttal, versus listening to find good solutions.  It is important to get all the facts about an issue before passing judgement.  I also believe strongly that we need to focus on current, solvable problems, for the betterment of Ocean Hills.  That will be my goal, should I be fortunate enough to win your vote.
